The Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap will be on Sunday 26th February 2017, from 10am – 2pm, at the Cheese and Grain, Market Yard, Frome, £2 Entry
With everything the keen gardener or allotmenteer needs, the event is the best way to get your gardening year off to a good start!
This year there will be an incredible edible twist with local delights from Frome Country Market and Frome Food Assembly, Pennard Potato Taste Testing and the opportunity to explore potato dishes from around the world!
Children’s activities throughout the day! Including sowing seeds, making potato people, seed activities, and songs from Frome’s very own Rocktopus and more!!
There will also be the Community-run Seed Swap so get your spare seeds and brown envelopes out!
…And don’t forget the wonderful talks and workshops
Of course we will have the huge range of seed potatoes from Pennard Plants, this year also including several good quality blight resistant varieties (if you want large quantities, you can order them in advance) and hundreds of different types of seed.
As well as heritage varieties, we’ll have organically and locally grown seeds, many unusual and fun varieties (fancy some purple carrots this year? or stripey tomatoes?) and small quantity seed packets (ideal for the frugal gardener).
You can also expect to find onion and garlic sets, fruit bushes and canes, and rhubarb crowns.
We’ll also have some excellent local suppliers of spring bulbs, fragrant and bee-friendly plants, to fill the garden with colour and beauty this year, and a range of meadow flowers suitable for the garden.
Phew! So don’t be a couch potato… come and join us for a day of family fun!!
